Gable Price has been rising in the music scene since 2018, and he has the songs to prove it. Leading Gable Price and Friends, the band has released three albums and collaborated with artists such as Jon Foreman, Josiah Queen, and Cory Asbury. The LaHaye Student Center at Liberty University gladly welcomed a last minute free concert showcasing Gable Price’s musical talent and charisma, showcasing his brilliant upbringing and promising future.
A free show is sure to draw a crowd, and this was no exception to that. The up and coming Joseph’s Coat provided familiar worship melodies, alongside unreleased debut tracks that are sure to mark a great start to their career. Shortly after, Gable took to the stage, holding his guitar close and taking in the comfortably bright lights. Gable made it clear from the start that this would be a unique show, as he was “Gable without his friends” for the night. Letting laughs and impressive vocals fill the venue, he embraced the many fans in the crowd, as there were many instances where the audience sang every word of a chorus. Gable was humble in this recognition, showing nothing but love and gratitude for those who turned out.
Gable took many requests from the crowd, in a way that I’ve never seen done before. He had staff members pass around sheets of paper and pens, and asked the crowd to write their song recommendations and pass the paper to the stage. This led to many papers being thrown to the stage, in the forms of paper balls, airplanes, and origami. I even saw a classic elementary school style fortune teller make its way to the front. Among Gables setlist and the crowds recommendations were fan favorites such as I Need You, Jungle In The City, and Heaven Closes Doors, as well as deep cuts and collaborative songs such as Repentance, How It Sets You Free, and Jesus Christ (Hold Me Steady).
The aforementioned paper fortune teller was the last song recommendation to be read by Gable, which led to a beautifully, softly lit acoustic performance of his recent collaboration with Josiah Queen, Thief In The Night. Gable Price will be joining Josiah on the Mt. Zion tour beginning next month, and this show proves that he will be a worthy supporting act. It’s always wonderful to see an artist be authentic in their worship and acknowledgment of God in their music. Gable made it clear that everything he has had, all that he does, and all that is ahead of him, is all thanks to God, and all of the glory goes to Him. “You are important, you are beautiful, you are a miracle. I love you, Jesus loves you more”.
